The large range of practices that are considered yoga can be daunting and confusing. You can spend hours wading through the possible free or paid practices online or local studios to try to decide what might be right for you.
I’ve found that there is a missing element to experiencing the benefit of yoga practice, a competent teacher seeing you and offering guidance and direction through your healing process. Supporting you to avoid pitfalls and celebrate successes.
Someone to help you decide which practices are right for you, where to start, and how to direct your energy is a key to experiencing the benefits of yoga and developing your own faith in the power of practice.
I can remember countless times holding a posture and simultaneously feeling dejected wondering, how will this help me heal? I also recall getting practices that were specific to me from my teachers that showed benefit nearly instantly.
It is through much misunderstanding and much misguided effort that I found a way to my own yoga practice and my own wholeness. If not for the kindness and support of my teachers I could of never learned the practices that sustain me in times of need.
My goal as a yoga therapist is to help you avoid difficulties and support you to develop a relationship with the elements and your nature that will help you to adjust your practice as life changes. I call these adaptability skills, and folks, you’re gonna need them.
